Let’s Get Digital at Plaza Singapura this October!
Singapore, 15 October 2018 – This October, look forward to an exciting, digital experience at Plaza Singapura, as the iconic lifestyle shopping mall along the Orchard Road belt brings shoppers an interactive digital bowling alley and a digital imaging carnival in collaboration with SONY. The mall will also be unveiling three vibrant art murals by Visual Communications Design students in its inaugural partnership with Raffles Design Institute (RDI).
Strike Amazing Prizes at the First-ever Digital Bowling Alley
From 19 October to 1 November, shoppers will get to strike amazing prizes at the spanking cool digitalised bowling alley in Plaza Singapura! Located right outside Sephora at Level 1 of Plaza Singapura extension, this specially designed 20-metres long interactive digital bowling alley is reactive to the player’s actions and the gameplay situation with the use of programmable colourful lighting. Not only can shoppers play a game of bowling, the bowling alley also doubles as a perfect backdrop for anyone looking to achieve Instagram-worthy photos!
Shoppers who spend a minimum of $30 nett (in a single receipt) at Plaza Singapura will get two tries at the digital bowling alley to win instant prizes from the mall’s tenants, such as Fayth, Sephora, Laneige, 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken, Eggs ‘n Things and many more! In addition, participants who spend a minimum of $500 (maximum three receipts) will stand a chance to win grand prizes such as a Casio G-Shock watch (worth $189), $50 MUJI gift card and $30 Starbucks gift card; as well as bragging rights as their names will appear on the game leader board.
From 19 October to 4 November, shoppers with a minimum spend of $240 and American Express® CapitaCard members with a minimum spend of $220 will be able to redeem a collectible PS thumb drive showing of the mall’s façades over the decades. The promotion is limited to the first 4,000 redemptions.
Flaunt your photography skills at Sony x Plaza Singapura Photo Contest
In collaboration with SONY, Plaza Singapura will present Sony X Plaza Singapura photo contest from 19 October to 4 November; and its first Digital Imaging Carnival held at Level 1 Main Atrium, from 29 October to 4 November.
As one of Singapore’s first shopping malls, Singaporeans across all ages have created much fond memories growing up with Plaza Singapura with their families and friends. The photo contest aims to increase shoppers’ engagement with the mall and, at the same time, reminisce how Plaza Singapura has evolved with its shoppers over the years as the mall turns 44 this month.
Shoppers can participate at Sony X Plaza Singapura photo contest by posting an image from the past or present depicting Plaza Singapura’s iconic façade or even art sculptures found at the mall, such as local artist Ng Eng Teng’s Wealth and Contentment in the 1980s, or the Yummy Jelly Babies, on their Instagram* and hashtag #SonyXPlazaSingapura. Contestants will also need to follow @PlazaSingapura and @SonySingapore on Instagram to qualify for the contest that will end on 4 November 2018.
All shortlisted entries will be flashed on a roving digital screen from 19 October. Winners of the photo contest will be announced on 12 November via Plaza Singapura’s Instagram. The top prize winner will walk away with Sony’s 6000L Mirrorless Camera, and 10 consolation prize winners will each receive a set of Sony Alpha Collectibles which consists of a travel adaptor, water bottle and card holder.
*Note: Only public Instagram accounts will be taken into consideration.
Collaboration with Raffles Design Institute (RDI) to showcase young artistic talents
As a mall that has always been active in engaging with the community, Plaza Singapura is delighted to partner RDI, where students from the department of Visual Communications Design were given a brief to design a two-dimensional art mural, incorporating elements of Plaza Singapura’s heritage and uniqueness. Through this partnership, Plaza Singapura provides youths with not only a place they can express their creativity, but also get to showcase their artistic talents to members of the public.
Amongst the submissions, three designs, shown below, were selected by Plaza Singapura and their murals will be unveiled by end-October across Level 1, Basement 1 and Basement 2 of the mall.
