Samsung Introduces Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ with AR, Slow Motion and AR Emoji (video)

The news is finally out. Samsung has launched the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ at Barcelona during MWC (Mobile World Congress). As expected, there were little surprises. Just more understanding of the new features and specs. BTW, the 3.5mm jack is still available and there is external MicroSD card slot.

What is interesting is that throughout the speech and presentation, Samsung has been mentioning about the feedback from users based on previous phones and accumulated all the goodness into the S9 and S9+. I like it.

Gone are the days where Samsung will try to present the phones in a musical way or just show every specs of them. Now, they are focusing on delivering the essence of the phone which I really enjoyed (except for the enterprise portion). Check out how the attendees’ pass has transformed into an S9+ via AR (Augmented Reality) through the Samsung Unpacked app.

For Galaxy S9+, it comes with two cameras with different aperture and it can automatically switch between them depending on the situation. Looking at the presentation, it says that one is a telephoto camera while the other is a wide angle lens.

The coolest feature of the camera is that it can now take 960fps slow motion (0.2s becomes 6s), thanks to the super speed sensor. It did not state clearly the resolution it can take.

Another feature that they spent some time to talk about is the AR emoji. It takes emoji to the next level with your own customized emoji that you can share across 3rd party platform.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ comes in 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

And finally, it comes in stereo. There are top and bottom speakers on S9 and S9+. It is tuned by AKG and it also supports Dolby ATMOS. If you are always watching movies on the move, this is great news.

As usual, it supports commercial and consumer usage. With KNOX, the phone is touted to be safer in terms of security.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be available in various markets from 16th March. I will update again once I received information on pre-order in Singapore.

Here is the final 1-minute video of the Samsung Galaxy S9.

and if you have time, check out the replay of the live-streaming.

I suggest that you go to their official website to check out the details, including the accessories.
