Battle of Mobile Data – StarHub, M1, Circles.Life

Just a day before Comex 2017, war has started. Not that kind of war but the war of Mobile Data. There will be no casualty, only happy consumers. Welcome to the war of Mobile Data between StarHub and M1 (also starring Circles.Life).

On the same day (today), StarHub and M1 issued Press Releases on their latest promotion. Both are targeting the mobile data of consumers (specifically their customers or potential customers).

Both are providing more mobile data.

  • StarHub is introducing a new suite of mobile postpaid plans. Customers will be able to enjoy free unlimited local data access every weekend, from 12:00 am on Saturdays to 11:59 pm on Sundays.
  • M1 is also introducing new plan (four of them) which customers can select that best meets their mobile needs, starting from S$20 for 5GB, up to S$98 for unlimited data access.

Actually, if you trace back the events, the war has started quite some time ago, with the entry of the virtual Telco, Circles.Life. They have shown the other telcos how they can win the consumers’ heart with more mobile data, a lot more and at such a competitive pricing. Most Telcos reacted with some actions (although I believe none will admit it is due to Circles.Life).

Currently, missing in action is Singtel. From my source, they might not want to take part in this “war”.
