This weekend will be fruitful for Pokémon GO Trainers in Singapore, thanks to our three Telcos – Singtel, M1 and StarHub. They will be luring customers to their shops by releasing thousands of Pokémon Go Lure Modules at PokéStops near their shops. Pokémon GO Trainers from any Telco will benefit.

It seems that the craze about releasing Lure Modules started with Singtel.

Singtel issued a Media Alert stating that they will be releasing thousands of Pokémon GO Lure Modules at PokéStops near selected Singtel Shops from 11th to 14th August.

Singtel

Participating Singtel Shops:

  •  Ang Mo Kio
  • Bugis Junction
  • Comcentre
  • Parkway Parade
  • Waterway Point
  • Bedok Mall
  • Causeway Point
  • Jurong Point
  • Tampines Mall
  •   West Mall

M1

Right after that, M1 also releases similar information. Here are the information from HWZ.

M1 too will be releasing Pokémon Go lures at PokéStops near M1 Shop outlets across Singapore from 11th to 14th August.

Take note that M1 distributors aren’t participating and is only applicable to M1 shops. They are located in these venues:-

  • Bugis Junction
  • Causeway Point
  • Change Alley
  • Changi Airport T3
  • Changi Airport M1 Counters – T1, T2 and T3
  • Changi City Point
  • The Clementi Mall
  • IMM Building
  • NEX
  • Paragon
  • Tampines Mall
  • Waterway Point
  • West Mall
  • Parkway Parade

M1 would like to offer Pokémon Go trainers an even more enjoyable and fruitful experience by releasing these lures at M1 Shop outlets. There will also be attractive discounts on power banks to enable trainers to have even more fun.

StarHub

And this evening (10th August), I also received information from StarHub PR stating that they are also going to release Lure Modules this weekend.

“StarHub will be deploying lures at PokéStops near selected StarHub Shops this weekend for Pokémon Go fans! For details on the exact locations, trainers are encouraged to stay tuned to StarHub’s Facebook page on Friday.”

Updated on 12-Aug-2016:

“From 12 August to 14 August between 11am and 8pm, we are placing lures at 10 StarHub Shops – Bedok Mall, Bugis Junction, Causeway Point, nex, Parkway Parade, Plaza Singapura, Tampines Mall, VivoCity, Waterway Point and Westgate.”

I believe all the Telcos are deploying the Lure Modules manually (each can last 30 minutes) since Niantic is not present in Singapore (yet). Based on Straits Times report recently, some companies are actually interested to buy Pokémon GO lures (once they are available officially).

Currently, I believe McDonald’s in Japan is one of the more prominent one that actually sponsored 3,000 Pokémon GO Gyms.

Seems like this is a win-win situation.

  • Pokémon GO Trainer can catch more Pokémons
  • Companies can lure more people to their shops or location
  • Niantic can earn money from all the participation (companies will have to buy the Lure Modules)

However, only one group of people suffers. Those that hate this game and the “zombies” that block the path on the street or hog the area in search of Pokémons. Haha.

Have fun and play safe, everyone. Catch Them All!!
