If you have been on WhatsApp today, you might have seen a message telling you that the messages are now secured with end-to-end encryption. You are not alone. One billion users will be getting such messages too. WhatsApp has turned on encryption on their messages.
Users with the latest WhatsApp software will get this message if the other party is also using the latest software. WhatsApp is not the first to use Encryption. In fact, I think they are actually behind others when it comes to encryption. Telegram, for example, has encryption for their secret chat.
What is interesting is that WhatsApp encryption is always ON. You cannot turn it off. To see this setting, go to Settings and check Security under Account. What does it means to common users? Nothing at all. You will not see or feel the difference.
