New mobile devices company to compete with Xiaomi, Oppo in Singapore

You might have not heard this mobile device brand here, but not for long. With the specs and price range of the devices, I think it will be a strong competitor to Xiaomi, Oppo and etc. BTW, it is not a China brand mobile device maker.

Kata USA Inc makes inroads in Asia

– set Singapore as regional headquarters
– launch latest smartphone i4

Singapore (10 February 2015) – US-based Kata Inc has set its sights on developing its mobile-devices business in Asia, making Singapore its regional headquarters to spearhead inroads into Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan.

Established in the US in 2010, Kata positions itself as a top-notch manufacturer of affordable smartphones and tablets.

Since last October, the company has started operating in Singapore, including a service centre in Irving Road. The Singapore operations are headed by managing director May Chan and general manager Terence Ang.

Now the company is expanding its reach in Singapore with the launch of 10 Kata standalone stores by the end of 2015. The first such retail store will open its doors for business this March in the prime Orchard Road area. The stores will sell Kata smartphones, tablets and accessories.

“We’re excited to have a retail presence in Singapore which will help build brand awareness for our Kata products. With our high quality and attractive prices, we’re confident that the middle-income local consumers will be receptive to our products and services,” said general manager Terence Ang.

As part of its expansion plans for Asia, the company is also on target to open Kata standalone stores in Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan in the second half of 2015.

Currently, Kata has operations in Hong Kong and the Philippines, with a total of 48 standalone stores. It has a particularly strong foothold in the Philippines – its Kata Facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/katadigitalcom) has over 1.1 million followers.

Kata’s products can also be purchased online through Lazada and Amazon for Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore as well as Canada and the US.

Kata launches latest smartphone i4

Kata is introducing its first octa-core phone which delivers faster processors, better cameras and bumped-up storage capacities.

Featuring a 5-inch super HD display, the new i4 is packed with top-of-the-line specs. The ultra-speed 1.7GHz octa-core processor lets you enjoy multiple apps simultaneously while the 16MP rear and 8MP back cameras assure perfect photos and high-quality videos.
