If you have second thoughts to own the HTC One (M8) or the HTC One (E8), you can still wait for HTC J Butterfly that is waterproof and has all the features of M8 and E8. Unfortunately, it is only available in Japan (KDDI) at the moment.
If you remembered, HTC Butterfly has the waterproof feature. In fact, I have done a review on it previously. I am not sure why it is only available in Japan market. Hopefully, it can be available internationally.
The 5-inch, full HD HTC J Butterfly is waterproof and has a 13-megapixel rear dual-camera (similar to HTC One (M8)) and a front 5-megapixel camera. As for other specs, it has a Snapdragon 801, 802.11ac WiFi, LTE-Advanced, 150Mbps 4g, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat.
Actually, HTC should be more aggressive in promoting this Butterfly since there are demand for waterproof handsets. Previously, when HTC One (M7) is out, there are already people asking why HTC One (M7) is not waterproof. HTC’s answer is simply that HTC One (M7) is not towards the market that needs waterproof smartphones.
But as more people see the benefits (kids playing in the water, people caught in the rain and etc) of having a waterproof phone, HTC must act on it.
