Meet Moment Smartwatch. It is the world’s first wrap around smart watch (let me know if I am wrong) and it is on Kickstarter. It has already reached its funding goal and you have less than a week to get yourself a piece of this technology.

Shape like a bracelet, it has flexible screen all around it and it will appeal to men and women. Based on the project page, the screen size is comparable to most smartphone screen size.

Here is an introduction of this Moment Smartwatch.

One of the most interesting feature of this project is that is has expandable module. You can add in the hardware that you need. Not sure how long it will be before the first module can be purchased.

Hardware Expansion (Patent Pending).  Every person has different requirements for a smart watch.  Adding all the hardware for all these features can make a smart watch bulky and power hungry.  And when new hardware arrives on the market your old smart watch becomes obsolete.  To solve this problem we created Moment Snapware – easily installed hardware modules to give you the additional features you want from a smart watch.  An open hardware and software development platform will allow Momentum Labs and other developers to provide the modules you want:  biometric measurements, GPS, extended audio, inductive charging – nearly unlimited options for the creative developer.

And it has a dedicated Smartphone app as companion to the smart watch. I think one of the major challenges is to get it to function as featured on Kickstarter (My experiences on Kickstarter is that there are always hiccups along the way). Thankfully, they mentioned they have a working prototype.

Next challenge is to get positive feedback from the backers if they want to commercialize it. As it has only a e-paper display, it may not appeal to everyone (although battery life will be good).
