This may not be earth shattering news. According to the information from the MUI (Multi-language User Interface) files from Windows Phone 8.1 emulator, there is a T9 keyboard in the making.
Not sure if anyone will use T9 nowadays. However, from the source, there might also be a SWYPE-like keyboard in the making too.
