INVERTED EDGE PIONEERS ECOMMERCE IN MEDIA WITH SPH COLLABORATION: BRIDGING CONTENT AND COMMERCE

29 JANUARY 2014, Wednesday – Pioneering the convergence of digital content and commerce in Singapore and the Southeast Asia region, multibrand fashion ecommerce store, INVERTED EDGE, and SPH MAGAZINES (SPH),  have teamed up to create what will be Singapore’s most stylish private label e-commerce portal, SheShops Online (Shop.SheShops.com). The site will initially feature designer collections offered by INVERTED EDGE.

INVERTED EDGE, a multibrand fashion ecommerce site launched in April 2013 and that represents more than 50 internationally-ready contemporary designers, mainly from the Asia Pacific region, will launch their private label site first on SPH’s herworldPLUS, an online women’s network that attracts more than 150,000 unique visitors per month. The INVERTED EDGE platform enables the company to build and customize new ecommerce stores efficiently and in a short span of time. INVERTED EDGE and SPH expect to replicate this ecommerce model onto other product categories and various online publications within the SPH network.

Debra Langley, CEO/Founder at INVERTED EDGE says, “This innovative partnership with SPH represents the perfect convergence of commerce and content; editors can curate and provide coverage of products most suited to their readers, and these readers can instantly purchase the items within a familiar media environment. And with this first site, the herworldPLUS community will be able to find beautiful fashion from superstar contemporary designers they might not otherwise be exposed to, and with commentary from an editor they trust.”

With popular US-based online media sites Popsugar and Refinery29 creating curated ecommerce sites that have bridged content and commerce by bringing curated products to their readers, and once traditional print magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar (published in Singapore under license by SPH) now offering an e-shop in their online space, the decision to move towards the ecommerce space was a natural progression for SPH, a leading media conglomerate in the Southeast Asian region. This is further supported by SPH recently leading a US$10 million Series B investment in Magzter, a New York-based global online newsstand venture, indicating SPH’s commitment to digital technologies and the role it plays within the company’s various media properties.
