New Team Video, “Galaxy 11: The Beginning,” Takes Fans on Journey around the World
as 13 International Football Superstars are Scouted and Recruited to Help Defend Earth
SEOUL, Korea – December 18, 2013 – Today, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. officially announced the complete roster of 13 world-class footballers starring in its fantasy-inspired and multi-layered global marketing campaign, Galaxy 11. To provide fans with more insights into how each player was recruited to join the team, Samsung introduced a four-minute, cinematic-style video entitled, “Galaxy 11: The Beginning.”
“We’ve assembled a ‘dream team’ of top-class players from around the world to join the Galaxy 11 campaign and help bring this story to life across various channels and Galaxy devices,” said Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. “As the story continues to unfold, fans participation will become even more vital to our campaign. We are looking forward to bringing our passionate fans closer to the Galaxy 11 team and story through a series of upcoming socially-driven and interactive initiatives.”
Following weeks of speculation and numerous player announcements throughout November and December on Samsung Mobile social channels, the completed Galaxy 11 roster consists of some of the greatest football talent from around the world. With a combined social media following of nearly 200 million fans, each member of the Galaxy 11 team will also provide fans with updates and exclusive content throughout the campaign, as they set out to prove that “football will save the planet.”

Regarding the future showdown between Galaxy 11 and its alien challengers, manager Franz Beckenbauer noted, “Now that we have completed the difficult task of selecting players to join the Galaxy 11 team, we will begin training for this epic battle against aliens to save the planet. This match will be unlike anything we have ever witnessed before and I expect that the form of football we encounter will be far different than what we know here on Earth.”
“Galaxy 11: The Beginning” follows the recruitment of 13 players who have been unexpectedly selected to join the Galaxy 11 team by agents of manager, Franz Beckenbauer, as they demonstrate their unique skills and abilities off the field of play. Fans are also provided a brief glimpse into how Samsung Galaxy devices, such as Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear, will play an integral role in enhancing the team’s performance leading up to and during Earth’s ultimate showdown.
The video marks the culmination of a six-week long recruitment process and kicks-off the next phase of the campaign in which the team comes together and begins training for an epic match against an intergalactic all-star squad of aliens.
