Top up your EZ-Link card with your Android Smartphone

EZ-Link has introduced another convenient way to top up your EZ-Link card. Now, if you have NFC on your Android Smartphone, you can download My EZ-Link mobile app on Google Play Store to start managing your EZ-Link card.

Here are the features of the EZ-Link Mobile app:

  • Top up ez-link cards using Visa/MasterCard credit or debit cards
  • View ez-link card details and transaction history
  • Save credit card details securely for future top ups
  • Manage up to 10 ez-link cards

A fee of $0.30 per top up applies for all successful top up transactions. The fee has been waived for MasterCard cardholders from now until 31 May 2014.

Not all NFC smartphones are supported. Here is the current list as of this writing.

Samsung

  • Galaxy Ace 3 (v 4.2.2)
  • Galaxy Express (v 4.1.2)
  • Galaxy S3 (v 4.0.4)
  • Galaxy S3 LTE (v 4.1.1)
  • Galaxy Note 2 LTE (v 4.1.1)
  • Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (v 4.2.2)

Sony

  • Xperia Z Ultra (v 4.2.2)
  • Xperia Z (v 4.1.2)

LG

  • G2 (v4.2.2) (v 4.2.2)
  • Optimus G Pro (v 4.1.2)

I can confirm that HTC One is currently not supported and I am  not sure when it will be supported.

Actually, I am glad that EZ-Link has come up with the app for people like me who occasionally use the EZ-Link card. For frequent users of the EZ-Link Card, they can actually opt for EZ-Reload which I think it much more convenient.

And  according to CNET who had asked the spokesperson for EZ-Link, making the smartphone as the medium (and thus eliminating the card) is possible, provided that the phone is equipped with NFC-enabled SIM card from the telcos.
