OpenNet working to restore fibre connections affected by Bukit Panjang fire

October 9, 2013 – A fire broke out in the cable vault of SingTel’s Bukit Panjang Exchange earlier today. The exchange houses OpenNet’s Bukit Panjang Central Office (CO). OpenNet was alerted to the incident around 2.35pm and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was already onsite to manage the situation. The fire has been put out and the SCDF is now investigating the incident to determine the cause of the fire.

Approximately half of the OpenNet’s cables at the Bukit Panjang CO were affected by the fire. Some fibre customers in Bukit Batok , Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah, Choa Chu Kang, Kranji, Marsiling, Teck Whye, and Woodlands may experience service disruption due to the incident. The affected fibre connections are being restored as quickly as possible and service restoration work will continue around the clock until all the affected services are up.

We will be providing further updates as service restoration progresses.
