LG’S CURVED OLED TV ARRIVES IN SINGAPORE

LG’s Curved OLED TV Offers Superior Picture Quality and Early Lead in Next Generation of Home Entertainment

SINGAPORE, September 26, 2013 — LG Electronics (LG) today introduced the first CURVED OLED TV (LG 55EA9800) in Singapore, which offers exceptional picture quality and an immersive viewing experience. Featuring a gently curved, IMAX-like screen, the stunningly slim 4.3mm thin CURVED OLED TV is truly an eye-catching work of art.

Global demand for OLED TV is expected to grow to more than 7 million units by 2016, according to DisplaySearch, a leading global market research and consulting firm. LG is the first company to commercialize both the innovative World’s First CURVED OLED TV which was first showcased at CES 2013, and the flat screen OLED TV which went on sale in Korea in January. This new standard in television viewing experience is set to arrive in Singapore. LG’s groundbreaking CURVED OLED TV marks the start of a whole new era in home entertainment, pushing the brand at the frontier of today’s technology.

“The next-generation display technology and advanced ultra-thin curved design in the LG CURVED OLED TV brings cinematic immersion that represents a new era in home entertainment,” said Mr. Scott Jung, Managing Director of LG Electronics Singapore.

With the gently curved screen and LG’s proprietary WRGB OLED technology, the CURVED OLED TV produces the most life-like colors and an infinite contrast ratio with deeper blacks and brighter whites compared to a conventional RGB display, offering picture quality that is beyond the imagination. In addition, the screen delivers incredible color accuracy regardless of ambient light or viewing angle.

The cutting-edge TV has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot: Best of the Best honor and is recognized by respected international product testing and certification bodies TÜV Rheinland, Intertek and VDE. The LG 55EA9800 is also the first OLED TV in the world to receive THX certification.

The CURVED OLED TV’s breathtaking and modern design features the flowing, almost transparent Crystal Stand. Further, LG’s forward-facing Clear Speakers are unobtrusively incorporated into the Crystal Stand to deliver flawless audio with remarkable fidelity in the mid- to high-frequency ranges.

Impact on the environment is a major factor in the development of LG’s CURVED OLED TV, which is why LG’s design team selected a sustainable material for the TV’s body. Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) not only contributes to the extreme thinness (4.3mm) but also to the light weight (17.2kg) of this next generation LG display. Thanks to the company’s patented Smart Energy Saving technology, LG’s CURVED OLED TV reduces energy usage as much as 67 percent compared to conventional flat panel TVs earning the Green Leaf Mark from Intertek1.

1 A stamp of approval from Intertek, one of the most respected testing and certification organizations in the world, is viewed as a guarantee of quality and performance.
