Check out this cool mechanical caterpillar that is built 200 years ago (around 1820). From far, you might think that this is a real caterpillar. There is no motor, no robotic parts. I believe it is made up of gears and small segments of mechanical parts (like a watch).

This caterpillar is not cheap. It is supposedly to have an estimated value of USD415,000. With its gold, enamel, jewel and pearl-set on the body, I think it is worth that price. With technology all around us, it is nice to watch a mechanical piece performing such life-like action. Watch it in action.
