Cosplay fans, the 14th Edition of EOY Cosplay Festival and J-Pop Live! Concert will be back in Singapore this 9th to 11th of December. If you want to catch Haruna Luna, Sayuri Sugawara and Danceroid, read the details.
Here are the details.
EOY 2012 Cosplay Festival will be presented in a form of real-life Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG). Marine Barrage will be transformed into a game-play area where participants can take part as ‘players’, dressed in their own favourite characters and take part in completing quests, stop ninja attacks, find treasure, boost energy levels, interact with Non-Player Characters (NPCs) and more.
Photographers, cosplayers and members of the public will be treated to a visual feast of costumes, activity booths and high levels of interaction. In addition, performances by local groups and individuals will be held throughout the day.

Longest cosplay event in Singapore to be presented in role-play game style
24 November 2012, Singapore – Cosplay enthusiasts and J-Pop fans are in for a visual and audio treat this December as EOY Cosplay Festival 2012 returns for the 14th consecutive year, growing into its first 2-day event in history, featuring a full-day cosplay festival and a full-scale Jpop live concert. The EOY Cosplay Festival will take place on Sunday, 9 December 2012, from 11am to 9pm at the Marina Barrage, with free admission to public.
Fresh voices at EOY 2012 Jpop Live!
Continuing the Cosplay Festival will be the EOY Jpop Live! concert featuring Japanese subculture talents: Haruna Luna, official model of internationallyacclaimed Japanese street fashion magazine KERA and voice behind “Overfly”, the ending theme song of anime Sword Art Online; Sayuri Sugawara, Japanese singer who has made ripples outside Japan for singing the theme song of popular video game, Final Fantasy XIII; and Danceroid, Japanese female net idols known for their dance interpretations to Japanese pop tunes. Danceroid was a popular hit among their Singapore fans during their first performance at EOY 2010. Their upbeat and creative performances will be showcased at the Esplanade Hall on Tuesday, 11 December 2012.

New concept at EOY Cosplay Festival 2012
The Festival will present itself with a refreshing twist as the annual Cosplay convention integrates virtual fantasy with reality. A real-life Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) concept will feature a game world environment where event attendees become “players” of the game.
As “players”, participants will dress in character and assume the role of their favourite game, anime hero or heroine character, partaking in themed activity areas along Marina Barrage to complete various quest-like tasks, stop ninja attacks, unearth treasure, boost their energy levels at food and beverage booths, interact with cute meido ambassadors, and spend their “gold” at merchandise booths with the aim of increasing their “character experience levels.”
This year’s edition promises to be the longest cosplay event in Singapore till date, boasting all-day activities and crowd favourites such as the Cosplay fashion runway and music performances by Lolita runway models and more than 40 local talents who will entertain cosplayers, event visitors and photographers alike.
“The EOY Cosplay Festival has grown over the years since its inaugural edition, reflecting a growing popularity of Japanese sub-cultures among the public, especially the youth demographics. I look forward to witnessing more people come forward and express their creative expression of the Japanese culture, particularly in the areas of Cosplay, Animation, Manga, J-Pop music and dance, as well as sub-culture fashion and artistic performances,” said Mr. Tim Wong, Chairman and Producer of EOY.

Annex
Haruna Luna
Haruna Luna is a renowned Japanese subculture fashionista, and the official model of internationally-acclaimed Japanese street fashion magazine KERA. Haruna Luna burst into the J-pop entertainment scene with her debut single “空は高く風は歌う (Sora wa Takaku Kaze wa Utau)“, the ending theme song to the second season of anime, Fate/Zero.
She started her singing career in 2011 when she was shortlisted as a finalist for the fourth Anime Song Grand Prix of Japan. She soon gained fame in the mainstream Jpop industry, and distinguishes her style from others through her performance costumes.
This year, Haruna has performed live at animelo summer live 2012, the biggest anime/anisong concert in the world; and Type-Moon Fes, which celebrates the creator of famous visual novel series, Fate and Tsukihime.
Lending her voice to the ending theme song of the second seaon of anime Sword Art Online, she will be releasing her second single, Overfly, on 28 November 2012.
Sayuri Sugawara
Sayuri Sugawara gained international fame through her performance of Kimi ga Iru Kara (Because You’re Here), the theme song of the 13th installation of the all-time favourite video game Final Fantasy.
Sayuri’s music career kicked off when she won 3rd place in the Rookie category of Grand Prix Cup in 2009. She also debuted her mini album, Give to You during that year, followed by Because You are 2nd single. Sayuri’s single, Hard to Say I’m Sorry was also sung on Fuji TV Drama. Sayuri went on to lend her voice to the theme song of Mystery Thursday TV Asahi, “Woman of Kasoken”, followed by a second mini album, Close to You, in December.
Sayuri grew more famous in Japan through several singles and mini-albums, and made waves when she went onto her first radio programmes in January 2011, FM OSAKA E, and then Bay-fm radio. Following her multiple singles and albums, Sayuri also held performances including the “Chao! LIVE” at Shibuya duo Music Exchange. Sayuri has just released a new single in March this year called Habataku Kimi e, and her second full-length album, Open the Gate, will be released this November 2012.
Danceroid
DANCEROID is a Japanese female net idol group who formed in 2009 with original members Ikura, Kozue Aikawa and Minka Lee. The group was formed when they posted a video of themselves dancing to a Vocaloid song on the Nico Nico Community Group (Niconico), which was a popular video sharing website in Japan, ranked the 14th most visited website in Japan.
Today Ikura is the only founding member who remains and consist of members, Ikura (leader) (23 years old), Yuzuki (21 years old), Maam (23 years old), Motomiya Marie (21 years old), Yakko (7 years old), Manako (6 years old) and Satsuki.
DANCEROID released three self-titled DVDs – one in 2009, and two in 2011. They also released a CD titled Danceroid: Official Sound Track in April 2011 and a compilation, Anime House Best Mix Featuring Dance Roid in November 2010. The girls have also appeared in some episodes of the Super Sentai TV parody series, Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger.
The energetic all-girl dance group performed in Singapore two years ago at EOY 2010, and have since appeared at other performances including the recent Flash Memory 360o Volume 2 (live) at Tokyo FM Hall, Japan.
