MICROSOFT RECOGNIZED WITH WORK-LIFE ACHIEVER AWARD IN SINGAPORE

Award by the Tripartite Committee on Work-Life Strategy (TriCom) an affirmation of Microsoft’s achievements in championing work-life harmony

SINGAPORE — October 16, 2012 — Microsoft Singapore was recognized with a Work-Life Achiever award at the Wo

rk-Life Excellence Award 2012 Gala Dinner, held by Ministry of Manpower  last Friday.  The Work-Life Excellence biennial award is part of Tricom’s efforts to promote work-life harmony in Singapore and honours organisations with leading work-life strategies and practices that enable their employees to harmonise work and personal needs, as well as reap benefits for the organisation.

This is the first time that Microsoft has participated in this review, and the process involved both a written application detailing th

e company’s work-life initiatives and a site visit where independent consultants interviewed more than 50 employees and Senior Executives from across Microsoft divisions, including its regional headquarters, Asia Pacific Operations Centre and the Singapore business entity.

The awards were handed out by Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower and Education Hawazi Daipi, who is also Chairman of the TriCom.  He said, “This year, we received many good applications from companies for the Work-Life Excellence Award.  Employers are doing more to foster workplace cultures that support work-life harmony through more communication and sharing on work-life strategies, particularly from the management. We also have a good mix of first-time applicants and winners, as well as many repeated winners who have consistently supported work-life harmony over the years and reaped the benefits.”

Helene Auriol, Managing Director of Microsoft Singapore said, “This award is an affirmation of Microsoft’s long standing efforts to put our people first in everything that we do. With the recent rollout of our New World of Work environment, we have also created a workplace of the future that puts people at the centre, promotes flexible work policies and provides the supporting technology that really can enable our employees to do their best work.”

In 2011, Microsoft was ranked as No. 1 on the Great Place to Work Institute’s World’s Best Multinational Workplaces list and, in addition, Microsoft is 1 of only 13 companies to have been on FORTUNE magazine’s ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ since the index launch in 1998.

“We are already recognised globally as a great place to work and this endorsement by TriCom in Singapore will spur us to push even harder to ensure that we continue to enable our people to be as productive with technology at work as they are at home, while attracting and retaining people from all generations and fostering connectivity between the groups,” Ms Auriol added.
