CREATE Film Festival – perspectives around engineering in Singapore

Creators of Tomorrow launch Singapore’s First Social Cinema

Creativity is the driving force behind change and over the past few years, the Creators of Tomorrow (COT), a group of young and enthusiastic engineers, entrepreneurs, designers and independent thinkers, have been working to inspire creativity and innovation in youth. In conjunction with the Singapore Economic Development Board, the Creators of Tomorrow are proud to launch the CREATE Film Festival featuring three films from local film makers, telling stories around engineering in Singapore.

The CREATE Film Festival is also Singapore’s First Social Cinema experience where the audience can book tickets for themselves and their friends to watch the films together from the comfort of their own homes. Unlike conventional cinemas where viewers are required to remain silent, they can chat via an inbuilt function while watching the films, creating an inclusive viewing experience where the audience can share their ideas about the films with their friends.

The first film, Hi I’m An Engineer, directed by Melvyn Lim, looks at an interesting encounter of an engineer’s first-time speed dating session where he encounters unexpected responses and hilarious situations. The second, Flight, by acclaimed director, Boo Junfeng, tells the story of a young man pursuing his love to built planes despite facing parental objections. The last film, Building Dreams, by up and coming local director, Anthony Chen, features what every kid dreams of- a documentary on someone who plays games for a living.
