SingTel reveals the Top 12 Grid Girls for the 2010 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX

Opportunities for fans to win tickets to the race and other prizes

Singapore, 17 August 2010 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) – returning sponsor of the first ever Formula OneTM night race – today revealed the Top 12 Grid Girls for the 2010 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX.

The Grid Girls have always been an integral part of the SingTel sponsorship in the Singapore Grand Prix and this is the 12 fresh-faced girls’ first public appearance together since auditions started in June.

To help fans get a glimpse into their personalities, each of the girls has been given a nickname that reflects their interests and character. There’s the ‘Brainy Babe’ and ‘Style Setter’, as well as ‘Biker Angel’ and ‘Bollywood Ecowarrior’.

The girls were chosen out of hundreds of applicants and made it to the finals based on their wit, personality and beauty.

From these 12 girls, three winners will be crowned. The top three girls will be chosen based on online and SMS votes as well as four challenges designed to test how all-rounded the girls are. These include a physical outdoor challenge, a presenter challenge – where they will be required to make presentations in front of a camera – and a fashion challenge where they were judged on their catwalk skills. They also had to pit their racing skills against each other on the SingTel Ultimate Race, a realistic simulator that emulates the entire Singapore race track, its three paned screens creating an augmented reality for the user.

The top three girls will be crowned at the Grid Girls party to be held on 16 September where the competition will officially conclude. The last judging segment will be held on the night itself and the winner stands to win $10,000 cash, and the girls who take second and third placing win $5,000 and $3,000 respectively.

These ladies – whose role is to hold up the national flag of the driver and the number of his car before each race – also add a much-welcome touch of glamour to the race track. There will be 51 SingTel Grid Girls altogether on the track on race day, two to each team.

Activities galore on singtelrace.com

The public who are interested in interacting with the Grid Girls can go to the website http://www.singtelrace.com/ and leave comments for the girls. The Grid Girls’ Twitter pages can also be found on the website along with other exciting games like ‘Drivers Dash’ and ‘Pit Challenge’.

Other prizes include an LCD TV, laptop and mobile phones, as well as other premiums and tickets to the Grid Girl party tickets.

The Simulator Roadshows are back!

The website also contains details about the roadshows where simulator rides will be available for members of the public who wish to become FORMULA ONE racer for a few exhilarating minutes.
