GoPro Recalled All GoPro Karma from Market

I know that the US Election is on-going and judging from the results (as of this writing), it is shocking. Here is another piece of news that is equally shocking. Just after 16 days in the market, GoPro is recalling their latest drone, Karma.

What is even more shocking is that it sold only 2,500 units. That is not a lot. Here is the official information from GoPro (copy from TechCrunch): –

GoPro Announces Karma Recall and Refund Program

~2500 Units To Be Recalled

Consumers Who Have Purchased Karma

Can Return It for Immediate Refund

SAN MATEO, CA – NOVEMBER 8, 2016 — GoPro Inc. today announced the recall of the approximately 2500 Karma drones purchased by consumers since October 23. The recall was announced after GoPro discovered that in a very small number of cases, Karma units lost power during operation. No related injuries or property damage have been reported.

Owners of Karma can return their units to GoPro, or their place of purchase, for a full refund. Replacement units are not being offered. GoPro plans to resume shipment of Karma as soon as the issue is resolved.

If you have bought one, follow the link below to get the refund.

Based on the FAQ,

The recall was announced after we discovered that in a small number of cases, Karma units lost power during operation. We are investigating the issue and working in close coordination with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Federal Aviation Administration.

It is sad news for GoPro as this drone has been highly anticipated for a while. Hopefully, version 2 will have more sensors and more stable than this current one. BTW, even if you think that Karma is working fine, GoPro will not want you to have it. You are supposed to return it with whatever bundle you purchased and they will provide a full refund with or without receipt.
