Review: Unboxing of Leagoo Shark 1 (video)

I think most people had not heard about the brand, Leagoo, which is why I am so excited about this review on the Leagoo Shark 1 smartphone. I just got the review unit less than 12 hours ago and all I can say is that the smartphone is a well built and has the specs of mid to high-end range of smartphones.

Packaging

The box is well made but I hope it can be smaller. Here is the Shark 1 sitting inside the box. Notice that there are a lot of “bubbles” on the screen? That is because I actually removed the screen protector and try to stick it back for this picture.

On the lower deck, it has the charger, the headphones (or earpiece) and cables with some documents (plus the SIM tray extractor pin).

First Look

My first impression of the 6-inch Leagoo Shark 1 is that it is very heavy. At 240.9 grams, it can be considered as one of the heaviest phone in the market. It has its reason.  The Shark 1 has a massive 6,300mAh battery. You may think that you don’t need such a big battery but consider this. The Shark 1 is able to charge other smartphones via a OTG cable (sold separately). It is like carrying a portable battery with phone features, a 2-in-1 solution for some people.

Accessories

Here is the Micro USB cable provided. I love flat cable.

CIMG1044m

Here is the charger. It is bigger than I expected but with the charger and cable, you can charge the phone at the maximum of 9v and at 3A (usually, phones are charged at approx 5v or less and at 1.0 to 2A). What it means in layman term is that is it a fast charger (or they call it Flash Charge).

Summary

This is my first time using the Leagoo (Leading Going) phone. I do not know what to expect. From my understanding, the UI (Leagoo OS 1.2) is very customizable. I will take some time to review the phone and update in another post.

Here is my first thought. This smartphone is like a hybrid of phones. It has Sony camera, LG display, Samsung and Meizu batteries and it’s uni-body construction looks like most high-end smartphones.

The only thing I don’t like is that it can only support only up to 64GB  Micro SD card. Booting up and scrolling around is fast and lag free (for now), thanks to the Octacore processor.

That is it for now.

Press Release

LEAGOO’s Shark 1 Phone Sold Out in Singapore Following Launch!

The 8.5mm ultra-thin Shark 1 design features the world’s highest capacity of 6300mAh Lithium-Polymer battery

LEAGOO, a leading Chinese smartphone brand, is powering up in Singapore following its set up here less than a year ago. Following the launch of its Shark 1 phone recently, the company has sold out its first shipment and will be ordering more units over the next month to meet growing consumer demands. Shark 1 is now available at nearly 100 stores island-wide (http://www.leagoo.com.sg/where-to-buy/).

The phone’s best-selling feature is its impressive 6300mAh Lithium-Polymer Battery, which is equipped with a 3A fast charge technology, delivering the best battery performance to-date. All it takes is 30 minutes to charge, and users will get to enjoy the phone for a day.

With the 6300mAh battery, the phone supports a huge Full HD Screen of 6.0” inches, with a resolution of up to 1980*1080. Its display panel comprising the LTPS technology coupled with a pixel density of up to 368 ppi brings users an incredible viewing experience, not only on video playback but also while surfing the Internet.

Johnson Zhuang, CEO of Leagoo said: “We are very excited with our progress in Singapore so far. With people being increasingly on the move, especially business executives, they want undisrupted phone usage and convenience. Video streaming and social media are also on the rise, so consumers are now looking for battery strength and screen size as key factors when choosing a phone.”

Samuel Loi, General Manager of LEAGOO Pte Ltd said: “Our focus has always been on the customer experience and Shark 1 gives them the ultimate power solution. LEAGOO has given serious considerations to Shark 1’s user-friendliness. Our fast-charging technology brings not only undisrupted work, but also undisrupted fun. At full charge, Shark 1 supports more than 770 hours of standby time or 72 hours of general usage. Users can enjoy up to 25 hours of online video, and even listen to 49 hours of music. This endurance gives users much more time to browse, play games and enjoy their favourite movies!”

Besides power strength and screen size, Shark 1 also features the latest 64-bit 1.3GHz octa core processor, giving users more power. This includes a 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM with the possibility of up to 64GB external T-Flash (micro SD card) add on. Over and above the latest 4G network, Shark 1 is also equipped with the latest Android Lollipop 5.1 (with the latest LEAGOO OS 1.2) to cater to a faster and higher efficiency computation.

Shark 1 features a Sony 13MP BSI rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera with F2.0

large aperture. Equipped with flash, they offer great “selfie” shots!

The device also features globally accurate positioning compatible with GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou. What’s more, power sharing is possible with its OTG (on-the-go) cable, enabling users to share their battery power with other devices.

Engineers have also fitted Shark 1 with Corning 3rd Gorilla Glass and combined it with the 2.5D process. This makes the glass screen smooth, scratch-resistant, and extremely robust yet achieves a thin and sleek look.

The Shark 1 also uses the latest generation of fingerprint censors where its unlock speed can be as fast as 0.39 seconds, while still maintaining maximum security. Fingerprint ID 3.0 is a safe, comfortable, convenient and fast technology that gives users a brand new experience.
