This Bike Intermodal can fit into a briefcase (video)

If you think Brompton bike is small (after folding), check out the Bike Intermodal that can fit into a briefcase. Yes, a briefcase or a backpack. It is that small and it is lightweight too. Remember to check out the video on how it folds.

From Bike Radar:

The bike – catchily named Bike Intermodal – is the product of a pan-European development team that was given a €1.58m research grant to make a lighter, more compact folding bike that would encourage more people out of cars and onto bikes and public transport.

Here is how it looks like when someone is riding the Bike Intermodal.

Here is a video on how it folds. Very complex but that is how it gets its compact size. I wonder what is the maximum weight for someone to ride on it.

So, how big (or small) is this bike? The bike is built of aluminium or magnesium and it weighs only 4-6kg and can be folded down to the size of 50cm x 40cm x 15cm. If you know any foldable bike, the weight of this Bike Intermodal is almost half of that.

And here is a picture after folding.

So, the question is “Will you buy this Bike Intermodal when it is available in 2015 or 2016?” Heard that there will be two versions. One is human powered and the other is motorized 🙂 .
