Canon introduces the wireless PIXMA iX6870 A3+-sized document inkjet printer for the efficient office
SINGAPORE, 6 March 2014 – In helping enterprises deliver on ever-increasing demands for efficiency, Canon introduced a new A3+-sized single-function document inkjet printer – the PIXMA iX6870.Targeted at businesses that frequently print A3+-sized documents and photographs, the PIXMA iX6870 is equipped with LAN and Wi-Fi connectivity capabilities, and comes with the flexibility of high-capacity cartridges to cater to enterprises with a higher volume of printing needs.

Efficiency
The PIXMA iX6870 office single-function printer employs a 5-color individual ink cartridge system with Photo Black ink that improves colour contrast performance. To offer users more flexibility and cost-savings, businesses can opt for a higher yield black cartridge that can accomplish up to 800 pages (based on A4 document printing).
The PIXMA iX6870 has an impressive print speed of approximately 14.5 images per minute (ipm) for black and white and approximately 10.4 ipm for color documents in A4 sizes. As a testament to its efficiency, it can print a 4” x 6” photo in a mere 36 seconds. Beyond just efficiency, it delivers on quality with the ability to print with precise microscopic 1 pico-letre (pl) droplets and supports up to 9600 x 2400 dpi, resulting in stunning and vivid details in visuals.
Wireless Connectivity
The wireless-enabled PIXMA iX6870 is designed for ideal use in the small offices, supporting up to five users. This wireless model also offers true print-from-anywhere mobility when paired with the Google Cloud Print service. Users can now print on-the-go from their mobile devices via the Gmail or Google Docs application, or from a web browser on desktops or laptops running on Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Chrome operating systems.
The PIXMA Printing Solutions application for the iPhone, iPad or Android devices offers a one-stop solution for printing and scanning images and documents from mobile devices. Designed to facilitate ease-of-use, it grants users access to the printer Remote User interface (Remote UI), allowing them check on details such as ink cartridge model codes, monitor remaining ink levels, and even initiate regular maintenance functions such as print-head alignment and cleaning.
The new Cableless Setup solution integrated into the app allows easy set-up in secured wireless environments, eliminating the need to install any utility programmes on host PCs. When users connect to the printer via a wireless access point, the PIXMA Printing Solutions application simplifies the passphrase authentication process down to the level of composing a text message on a mobile device.
Solutions Templates
Users can also gain access to the exclusive Solutions Template service, granting them the ability to download attractive and useful templates for personal or office use. These templates include restaurant menus, notices, brochures, and even posters, which are commonly printed in A3 sizes.
Energy-efficient Solutions
The PIXMA iX6870 is also designed with energy-efficiency in mind. It features a unique Auto Power ON/OFF function that powers down the printer after a period of inactivity and automatically wakes the printer from rest mode to carry out print jobs.
