THE NEW NIKON AF-S NIKKOR 35MM F/1.8G ED LENS PACKS HIGH-PERFORMANCE IN A COMPACT BODY

The wide-angle fixed lens delivers sharp details and natural bokeh for beautiful, high-quality images

SINGAPORE – Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd is pleased to announce the AF-S NIKKOR 35MM F/1.8G ED lens, the latest addition to the fixed focal length lenses range for Nikon FX-format D-SLR cameras. The fast, wide-angle AF-S NIKKOR 35MM F/1.8G ED is a high-performance, compact single focal length lens that delivers high-resolution and high-contrast images.

β€œThe new AF-S NIKKOR 35MM F/1.8G ED adds to our expanding range of Nikon lenses, providing photographers with more versatile lensing options. Developed to deliver stunning images at an affordable price, it combines amazing contrast and resolution with vivid low-light performance. The crystal sharp detail with smooth bokeh separation make this wide-angle lens ideal for capturing striking portraits and landscapes,” said Uemura Kimito, General Manager, International Marketing Division Imaging Group, Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd.

Primary features:

The AF-S NIKKOR 35MM F/1.8G ED1 is an FX-format compatible, wide-angle single focal length lens with 35mm focal length and f/1.8 maximum aperture. The lens provides a bright viewfinder image and beautiful bokeh utilizing the shallow depth of field that can be achieved with a large-aperture, single focal length lens. An optical design with 11 elements in eight groups and a rounded, seven-blade diaphragm enables the photographer to utilize shallow depth of field in snapshots or portraits.

A combination of extra-low dispersion (ED) glass and aspherical lens elements reduces optical colour and other defects to produce sharper images. The optical design inherited from the AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G reproduces point images with minimal sagittal coma flare2 or light falloff throughout the entire aperture range for exceptionally sharp, evenly lit, high-contrast shots. The lens is designed to deliver high-quality, high-definition images even when combined with a highpixel-count camera body.

The AF-S NIKKOR 35MM F/1.8G ED lens sports a seven-blade diaphragm for natural image blur and a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) that provides quiet and precise autofocus (AF) operation. It includes rear focusing that ensures nothing moves externally as it autofocuses and is also equipped with a manual override.

The lens also features a substantially compact and light body compared to the AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G.

1 When used with a Nikon DX-format digital SLR camera, the effective angle of view is equivalent to that of a lens with a 52.5mm focal length.
2 A phenomenon with which the edges of pinpoint light sources in photos of night landscapes and the like are not rendered as point images, but appear distorted to resemble the outspread wings of a bird in flight
