If you have upgraded to iOS 7 and you are using a 3rd party cable to charge your iPhone, you might notice that there is now a warning to let you know that the cable or accessory is not certified.
Good news is that you can still continue to use them. As for iPhone 4s, there is no such warning. So, I suspect the chip in the lightning cable may be the reason why there is such a warning.
