MINDEF authorizes more army camps to allow camera phones and in-vehicle cameras

This is going to be a great news for NSmen and NSFs. MINDEF and the Singapore Armed Forces have reviewed the pilot security zoning program which was implemented on 1st Sep 2012. And they are going to extend it to 15 more camps.

I remembered last year when it was implemented, I wrote in to ask about the reasons for the restriction on camera/non-camera phones that are above 4.3-inch screen. I published the response from them and the post garners a lot of reads and share (1.6k share on Facebook). Now, it seems that this restriction has been lifted (correct me if I am wrong) and they are going to allow in-vehicle cameras in the camp too.

All camera-equipped mobile phones will now be allowed into Green Zones. In-vehicle cameras will also be permitted in Green Zones. However, servicemen will need to ensure that in-vehicle cameras are not used for unauthorised photography or videography.

Kudos to MINDEF for listening to our feedbacks. So, effective 1st Sep 2013, the security zoning programme will be implemented across 15 additional camps. They are: –

  1. Amoy Quee Camp
  2. Bukit Panjang Camp
