After this year (2013) Summer, Kirobo may have passed all the 12 tests to become a robot astronaut to join the human team at International Space Station. BTW, Kirobo is just 34 cm tall and weighs 1kg. Check out how he balances himself in weightless condition.
Kirobo is actually developed under the KIBO ROBOT PROJECT, a joint research project being carried out in collaboration with the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo, ROBO GARAGE Co., Ltd., and Toyota Motor Corporation.
