If you think Gorilla Glass 2 is tough, Gorilla Glass 3 is tougher, according to the Press Release from Corning. Not much details were revealed but expect to see demos of the glass when the show starts next week.

Corning is planning to introduce two products at CES 2013. One of them is of course the GC3. The other one is optical cables by Corning. Here is an excerpt of the Press Release: –

Corning plans to introduce two new products at CES 2013: Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3, a new glass composition with durability enhancements; and Optical Cables by Corning, fiber-based, device-to-device connectivity solutions that significantly extend the data transmission range past the limits of copper-based cables. Full product details will be included in announcements planned for Monday, Jan. 7.

From Engadget, it seems that they are enhancing the glass at molecular level, featuring Native Damage Resistance (NDR). I am looking forward to see the new products and hopefully, to see a video from Corning (“A Day Made of Glass 3”, maybe?). I always and still enjoy the video “A Day Made of Glass 2”. Very inspirational about the future.
