Singapore, 1 March 2011 — Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) today announced that it has renewed its partnership with Formula One™ to be the Title Sponsor for the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix in Singapore for two more years in 2011 and 2012,
extending a successful partnership that was first forged in 2008.
“We are proud to be continuing as the title sponsor of the Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix,” said Ms Chua Sock Koong, SingTel’s Group CEO. “Just a few years ago, no one would have thought that having Formula One™ in Singapore would have been possible. When Singapore hosted its inaugural race and the world’s first Formula One™ night race three years ago, we created our own race record and amazed the world.”
“At SingTel, we constantly strive to be at the forefront of our industry through innovation and our title sponsorship of the Formula 1 race in Singapore has raised awareness of this key brand attribute and strengthened SingTel as a global brand. Now into our fourth year of this partnership, we will continue to achieve amazing things at record speed to bring the best to our customers in Singapore and around the world. This will also be the year that we will be creating several ‘firsts’ to bring alive the Formula 1™ Singtel Singapore Grand Prix experience, which we hope will dazzle both Singaporeans and visitors – whether they are big fans of the sport or not,” Ms Chua said.
One of the ‘firsts’ that SingTel will be introducing is a multi-platform viewing experience for the 2011 Formula One™ Singtel Singapore Grand Prix. Available across three ESPN Star Sports platforms and exclusive to SingTel, Formula One™ fans will be able to catch the race action anywhere – whether it is “live” on STAR Sports on mio TV Channel 115, online, or with their mobile devices. In addition, this is the first year that Formula 1™ will be shown in true HD.
Mr Bernie Ecclestone, Formula One Group CEO, welcomed the announcement by SingTel: “We are delighted that SingTel will be continuing as the Title Sponsor of the Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix. As a Singapore company which has grown to become a key player in the world of telecommunications and multimedia, SingTel is the ideal naming rights sponsor for this innovative and prestigious round of the FIA Formula One World Championship.”
Mr. Ong Beng Seng, Singapore GP Pte Ltd said, “Following three years of highly successful partnership, we are delighted to have the opportunity to continue our collaboration with SingTel.
