Watch Singapore National Day Doodle on Google Singapore Homepage

Remember the time I blogged about the winner of the Doodle 4 Google Singapore competition, 17-year-old James Rotanson from Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)? His doodle will have the honor of showing on Google Singapore homepage for 24 hours on Singapore National Day (9th August 2010). More information after the break.

Information from Google Singapore,

This Monday, 9 August, while Singapore celebrates its 45th birthday, 17-year-old James Rotanson from Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) will have one more reason to shout about as his winning Google doodle (see below) reflecting Singapore’s famous landmarks and values will be displayed on Google Singapore’s homepage (google.com.sg) for 24 hours.

Concurrent with commemorating this year’s National Day, Singapore was the first country in Southeast Asia to hold a Doodle 4 Google (D4G) competition in January that called for creative interpretations of the Google logo with the theme ‘Our Singapore’ from local students aged between 4 and 19 years old. Within a month, the competition attracted over 30,000 doodle submissions from over 400 schools, one of the highest participation rates in Asia. The theme encouraged artistic expression among the youth and was a fantastic platform for students to share their personal vision of Singapore with the world.

James’ doodle titled ‘ Colours of Singapore’ was handpicked as the overall winner by original Google Doodler Dennis Hwang. It was selected for his exceptional depiction of Singaporean values and creative use of local icons.

As the National Day favourite goes, One people, one nation, one Singapore, support our local young talent and  watch out for James’ doodle on Monday!
