Samsung Delights with Intelligent Home Appliances

Efficient cleaning technology for a healthier home environment

SINGAPORE – July 1, 2010 – Samsung Electronics, a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, continues to enhance consumers’ well-being with three new technologically advanced home appliances. These features aim to make users’ cleaning experience more convenient and effective for healthier surroundings.

“We have strengthened our home appliance category to provide customers with a full range of innovative and stylishly designed home friendly technologies, which will enable them to enjoy a purer living environment. By providing consumers with a full suite of Samsung home appliances equipped with unique technologies, I have no doubt that our latest innovations will invigorate further interest and cement our position in the Singapore market,” said Mr. Moon Sung-Hyun, Managing Director, Samsung Asia Pte Ltd.

The new series of home appliances from Samsung marks a new age for smart household appliances with intelligent features that take convenience and cleanliness to the next level. These advanced technologies include the Samsung Navibot’s Visionary MappingTM System that is able to plot the optimal cleaning path using the least amount of time and effort, and the Airtrack Plus’ (SC4710) Twin Chamber SystemTM that allows for improved cleaning efficiency. The Samsung Virus Doctor is also an essential item in today’s modern home, featuring the Super Plasma ion (SPi) technology that has the ability to kill more than 99 percent of harmful micro-organisms including SARS and H1N1.

Navibot

The Navibot is a smart robot vacuum cleaner that is the result of continuous research based on consumer feedback. The Navibot is equipped with the unique Visionary Mapping SystemTM which uses a small integrated camera that takes 30 photos per second of the surroundings. Using these images, NaviBot creates a virtual map of the home, identifying obstacles around the room and plots the optimal cleaning path using the least amount of time and effort. Adding another layer of intelligence, the Visionary Mapping SystemTM allows the Navibot to return to its original position during its second round of cleanup after the initial charge.

Equipped with Power Brushes and a sweeping blade, the Navibot is agile enough to clean hard to reach areas quickly and more effectively. Its improved design has also proven it to be 95 per cent more effective than conventional vacuum cleaners at picking up pet hair and fluff. Using Samsung’s patented technology to prevent pet hair from wrapping around the brushes, the Navibot is also easier to maintain.

Additionally, with five different programs such as Auto-, Spot-, Max-, Edge Clean-, or Manual Mode, the NaviBot also has the option to delay the start of the cleaning program, meaning that users are able to clean their homes without even being there. With an added 38 motion sensors, this ensures more reliable cleaning and avoids problems such as falling down the stairs, severe collisions and getting entangled in cables. The Virtual Guard creates an added layer of protection by creating an invisible screen across the room, enabling users to screen off areas that should not be cleaned.

The Airtrack Plus has a unique Twin Chamber SystemTM that divides the normal dust chamber into two compartments, allowing for improved cleaning and longer lasting power.

The Airtrack Plus is now available at a recommended retail price of $139 including GST.

Virus Doctor

With SPi technology, the Samsung Virus Doctor lets consumers enjoy healthy and clean air indoors by eliminating various airborne biological pollutants such as common cold and influenza viruses, bacteria, fungi and allergens.

Featuring a simple yet luxurious design with touch buttons and lighting, the Virus Doctor is a pleasant addition that complements any interior furnishing. With the Virus Doctor, consumers now have a good looking device that can provide purer and cleaner air anywhere.
