Project Natal is Now Kinect, New Xbox 360 Gets Slimmer with Price – Video Within

Project Natal is now officially called Kinect and Microsoft announces new Xbox 360 that is slimmer with bigger hard drive capacity and in a sleek looking glossy black. It is available from today (in US) at US$299, although Kinect will still need a few months of waiting (Launched on 4th November).

I like the new Xbox 360. In fact, I may get one if it becomes available in Singapore. Of course, the Kinect is a must. With Kinect, you can actually play games by standing in front of the Kinect without any controller.

Here is the specs sheet of New Xbox 360

802.11n WiFi is also integrated into the system and it has a special port just for Kinect. So, if you want to play games with Kinect, you got to have this latest New Xbox 360. The older Xbox sets can connect Kinect via USB port but they will need additional power for the controller. The new Xbox 360 has a special port for Kinect that can power and transmit data. The Kinect port is as below (with the orange line).

So, what is Kinect? Here is a short video of what it can do.

And here is a video shown in E3 2009 on Project Natal. It is about a virtual boy Milo. I hope this project still continues. Never seen such interaction with a virtual character before. Amazing.

So, what do you think about Kinect with the New Xbox 360?
