LG Launches Premium-brand INFINIA HDTVs in Singapore,

Offering Infinite Possibilities in Home Entertainment

LG’s flagship LX9500 boasts FULL LED Slim technology, superb contrast and an expansive, silky smooth picture that takes viewers to the heart of the action

SINGAPORE, 14 May, 2010 LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in the flat panel display and audio-video devices market, today launched in Singapore, the INFINIA series of HDTVs. Delivering a picture of outstanding clarity and brightness on LG’s innovative BORDERLESS™ design, the INFINIA series of HDTVs led by the INFINIA LX9500 – the world’s first FULL LED Slim 3D TV and a two-time awardee at this year’s CES and a winner of the reddot design award 2010 – invites viewers into an entirely new world of 3D TV viewing.

Seamless Design

LG’s new FULL LED Slim technology elevates picture quality with a slim LED structure that supports detailed local dimming of up to 240 addressable segments (on the 55-inch class LX9500), resulting in an HDTV that provides the deeper black levels and uniform picture quality which typically could not be achieved on an ultra-thin set. LG’s LED Plus technology available on the LE7500, also improves picture quality and energy efficiency by adding a basic local dimming capability of up to 16 addressable segments.

As the world’s first FULL LED Slim 3D TV, the LX9500 uses an innovative backlight structure to deliver its remarkable picture. Illuminated by a panel of 1,200 LEDs directly behind the screen (55-inch model), the Full LED Slim display provides images of exceptional brightness and clarity. With TruMotion 400Hz reducing image cross-talk and a picture further enriched by a 10,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, the LX9500’s mesmerizing 3D transports viewers right to the heart of the action.

As with all its features, the LX9500’s award-winning BORDERLESS™ design is geared toward creating the ultimate 3D experience. Slim and sleek, the LX9500 boasts a depth of just 22.3mm, and a 16.0mm super-narrow bezel that allows for a more expansive picture and 3D images that practically burst out of the screen. In recognition of its unparalleled design, the LX9500 this year won a reddot design award, one of the world’s top three design awards and a globally accepted standard for the very best in product design.

“Thanks to its superb picture quality, the LX9500 offers a 3D experience like no other, where instead of just watching scenes, you can actually be part of them,” said Simon Kang, CEO and President of LG Home Entertainment Company. “Through advanced features such as FULL LED Slim and BORDERLESS™ design, LG is already pushing the technological boundaries for 3D. Along with our 3D Blu-ray disc player and 3D home projector, LG is well placed to become a true global leader in 3D home entertainment.”

The LX9500 employs shutter glasses-type 3D technology, with glasses that add depth to an image by blocking one lens then the other in sync with the screen’s refresh rate. The LX9500 is also the only 3D TV with dual IR emitter, which sends signals syncing the lenses with the TV. Having dual emitters ensure that consumers can watch 3D contents with a wider viewing angle and from a longer distance. The glasses are comfortable enough to wear for an extended period of time and can be recharged via a USB for up to 40 hours of uninterrupted viewing pleasure.

“Tech-savvy and design-conscious consumers in Singapore, who delight in sophisticated home entertainment products that combine the best in technology, design, and functionality, will appreciate the new innovations in LG’s INFINIA series,” said Mr. Jeff Cheh, Managing Director, LG Electronics Singapore. “A significant milestone in the history of LG, we believe that the launch of INFINIA will further strengthen our competitiveness in the home entertainment playing field, enabling us to continue with our upswing business momentum in Singapore.”

Limitless Content

In addition, NetCast™ provides instant streaming, via a broadband connection, of virtually limitless online videos, movies and web albums. In another first for the industry, the LX9500 supports the Multi Picture Format (MPF), the world standard for 3D pictures, which enables user-created 3D content to be enjoyed on-screen without the need of a PC. Delivering unbeatable levels of entertainment, the LX9500 also displays regular programming and content in high-definition 2D, which is further enhanced by localized Spot Control for the ultimate in picture quality.

Seamless Connectivity

LG also has incorporated the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) technology in the INFINIA series. DLNA allows consumers to access content stored on other DLNA-certified devices within the home, such as computers, making content options almost limitless.

For greater convenience and flexibility in setup and installation, all INFINIA HDTV series with NetCast also offer wireless Full HD 1080p wireless transmission from a “Wireless Media Hub” from up to 98 feet. Connecting source components, such as Blu-ray players, cable or satellite boxes and video games to the media hub enables transmission to a compact receiver adaptor, which attaches to the back of the TV, hidden from view. This eliminates the need for individual components to be connected directly to the TV, making for a clean and easy installation and removal of the unsightly wires (Media Hub and receiver adaptor sold separately as a package). All models with NetCast also support multi-media playback from a connected USB device including photos (JPEG), music (MP3) and video (DivX HD).
