First iPhone Worm, ikee, Appears, Owners, Beware!

Posted on 09 November 2009 by Joe Teh

The first iPhone Worm, ikee, appears across Australia. According to the report, it only affect those jail broken phones that has SSH (Secure Shell)  installed. There are no other reported case outside Australia.

The worm will change the wallpaper with one of Rick Astley and it will spread to other jail broken iPhones through the network.

One of the reason why it only affect those jail broken iPhones is because all the phones with SSH installed have the same default root password “alphine”.  So, if you are one of those people, change the password immediately. BTW, the “genius” behind this ikee worm is a hacker by the name of ikex.

I think they should force all jailbreaker to change the default SSH password. This is not the first time a security loophole exist because of the default password.
